Top Secret Rescue Mission
You finally regain consciousness. The ship, astoundingly, reached its target.
“The kid is awake, Professor Jane.” Doctor Penner has a blood pressure monitor on your arm.
“Charlie, you okay? You’ve been out for longer than we expected. Your blood pressure was dangerously low. We’ve used your calculations and the cameras to position the ship. You’ve been out for four hours. Professor Scot is in the Nuke room it will take another two hours to prepare the nukes.” The camera’s has been launched outside, its images is sent to a small screen in the control room.
“How far off schedule are we? How long was I out? I hate these small screens, I know weight and all, but navigating to see all the rocks isn’t easy.” You use the touch screen controls to angle the cameras’ view towards the space rocks. “The ones on the far end will be tough.”
More than two hours later Professor Scot and Quinn calls in from the nuke room. “We’re all set up down here. Tell the kid to punch in the calculations up there, Quinn is preparing the last pair of nukes.”
“These are the lightest nukes I’ve ever heard of. The last one is almost in position. Let’s hope we don’t need to fire more than one round of nukes."
You type in the last calculations and turn to the other monitor. You see the rockets launch from the ship and wait for a clear visual. Boomwackclack! Something hit the ship.

“Professor Scot, what happened? I lost some of the visuals. The monitors don’t show any damage but I think the vibrations could’ve damaged them. That bang was too loud.”
“It seems we’ve been hit by the debris from the blast. I’m leaving the ship to check the damage.”
“Be careful Professor Scot. We need to get you home to your wife and child.” Professor Jane checks the controls and doctor Penner hurries to the infirmary.
You hear another loud bang. You check to see if the scanners picked up on any remaining debris.
“The ship got hit twice! I’ve been disconnected! I don’t see any major damages, but I can’t reach the ship. I’m adrift.”
There is another rock left, it is about the size of Africa. If I let it hit earth, everyone could die. I remember the graphs at the station, don’t I? Why didn’t they put that draft on here! If this is the rock I think it is, it will miss the earth’s atmosphere by 30 kilometres. Is it better to say nothing and to save the Professor? If it is the rock that was just to the left of this one, it will hit earth, directly. No one would survive. Should I tell them and they should load the last nukes? What if I remembered wrong? You think to yourself as you try to get one of the other cameras to find Professor Scot, but without success.
Professor Jane Interrupts your thoughts.
“Quinn, get out there!”
“Noooo! Uhmg!”
“Professor, what was that? Give me your stat!”
“I’ve been hit by debris, my suit is still in tack. The rock is pushing me away from the ship, fast!”
