You’re sitting alone at a chess board, analysing the game in your head that you just lost.  Doctor Penner sees you and approaches you.

“You’ve been staring at this empty board for ages.  What’s the matter with you, kid?  Have you accepted Moorland’s job proposition yet?”  He walks around the bench and sits down to stare at the board too.

“I got beat, got to find all my mistakes, and can’t let it happen again.  Still deciding on that job though.”  You wave your hand above the board not taking your eyes away from it for second.

“Yeah, the Scots are really smart too.  Well, there is an important meeting in a few minutes.  If you worked with the team you probably would’ve known what it would be.  I’d like to find out.  I’ve heard rumours that we could leave this place.  Ha, but I guess you wouldn’t want to go back to South Africa anymore.”

“Uh, no, not really.”

“Figured, you look happy, kid.  You two make each other happy.  I’m glad for you.  Come, forget about this for now, you need to hear the news.” She stands up and motions for you to follow her.

You and Doctor Penner walk to the big blue residence building.  The meeting is in the dining hall.

The head of space missions is standing on the stage again.

“Good evening.

Tomorrow, the chaos that is racking outside theses walls will end.

The ISS has been working on a covert FTL-remote control drone.  We tested it and it was a great success.  We sent a FTL-drone to the meteorite yesterday at 9:00am.  We collected indisputable data.  The data and photos we collected was sent to all universities, space organisations and news stations.  NASA’s calculations are now proven beyond all reasonable doubt.  Every government around the world is aiming to restore balance to their countries.  The rumours of wars, are dissipating.  The threats against your lives and NASA’s facilities are being retracted.

In a week’s time, you will be escorted to your home town by protection services.

Humanity thanks you for your service."

You search the crowd to find your beloved and someone spins you around from behind.

“Congratulations, my love!”
